Questions and Answers

1.                  Q:        Can only early childhood professionals receive approval?

A:         No, trainers will be approved based on their experience and education.

2.                  Q.        How will we know if their experience and education meet the criteria?

A:         This information will be documented on their application, resume, course transcripts and recommendations.

3.                  Q:        Do all applicants need to submit a college course transcript?

A:         Community trainers are not required to submit college transcripts.  Copies of relevant licenses and/or certificates should be submitted.  Transcripts are required when applying to be approved in a competency area other than that which is represented by a degree, license, or credential.

4.                  Q:        What if a trainer meets most of the criteria but lacks the number of required

trainings provided to adults or education?

A:         If a trainer meets the majority, but not all of the requirements listed, she/he may be

approved on a temporary basis at the discretion of the Department and the Training and Technical Assistance Program.  Education criteria, however, must be met.

5.                  Q:        Does the trainer need to apply for each individual workshop?

A:         Most trainers must be approved for each individual competency area.  Once a trainer is approved for a competency area, he/she does not need to be approved for that topic again.  The exception is the Master Trainer who is approved to train in all seven competency areas.

6.                  Q:        Who is responsible for obtaining the approval, the trainer or the director?

A:         According to current licensing regulations, approval is the director’s responsibility.

7.                  Q:        Who will determine the approval?

A:         The Training and Technical Assistance Program closest to the trainer or in the area in which the trainer wishes to provide training.

8.                  Q:        Who will respond to the trainer?

A:            The Training and Technical Assistance Program will respond to the person or entity seeking the approval.
